Under the supervision of your manager, you will assist our growing number of clients with a varied range of commercial disputes, such as breach of contract, director and shareholder disputes, debt recovery, IP infringement, negligence, employment, construction and leasing disputes.&nbsp;You will receive comprehensive formal and on-the-job training focused on technical legal knowledge, matter management, and client service and meeting professional obligations, to give you a strong understanding of the legal needs of our commercial clients, and to meet the requirements of your Qualifying Work Experience (QWE).The successful candidate must be available to commence work in our Manchester office between September 2024&nbsp;and the end of November 2024.What You’ll Be DoingUnder the supervision of our Practice Leaders and Senior Associates, a typical day may include (among other things):<ul><li>Providing oral and written advice to clients on a broad range of dispute matters (including as part of our industry leading Legal Advice Consultation service).</li><li>Advising clients on director and shareholder disputes such as breach of fiduciary duties and shareholder agreements, advising on strategies to remove directors and shareholders, preparing letters of claim and drafting settlement agreements.&nbsp;</li><li>Advising clients on breach of contract claims across a wide range of industries.</li><li>Preparing cease and desist letters in respect of IP infringement and responding to IP infringement claims.</li><li>Preparing letters of claim for debt recovery and issuing proceedings.</li><li>Advising employers on employment disputes, such as enforcement of restrictive covenants, breach of confidentiality, unfair or wrongful dismissal, discrimination and defending claims issued in the Employment Tribunal or High Court.</li><li>Conducting legal research.</li><li>Participating in role plays to improve your client service skills, or having a team lunch on the rooftop.</li></ul>The Ideal Candidate<ul><li>Eligible: You are a SQE qualification pathway candidate and you have successfully completed your SQE1 assessment.</li><li>Wants to do things differently and isn’t the average trainee: You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are keen to grow as a solicitor in an innovative environment.</li><li>Passionate about the client experience: You are focused on your clients and you’re dedicated to creating experiences that exceed client expectations.</li><li>Personable, empathetic and resilient: You are friendly, warm and professional. Trainee Solicitor - Commercial Disputes - LegalVision

Application deadline: 31 October 2024We usually take on two trainees each year, one in March and one in September, and we are able to offer LPC graduate opportunities as well as the new SQE training programme for law degree/GDL graduates.&nbsp; Our LPC programme is a four-seat training contract over 24 months and the SQE apprenticeship is a five-seat training program over 30 months.We interview on a bi-annual basis.If you application is successful, you will spend at least six months each in the Business, Commercial Property and Dispute Resolution Departments in our Manchester office. You are also likely to do some work&nbsp;with one or more of our specialist legal teams, such as Employment, Professional or Clinical Negligence,&nbsp;Family, Probate or Residential Conveyancing, and may have a formal seat in one or more of these departments.&nbsp; We reserve the right to place you in our Glossop office, but this usually only happens at a trainee’s request.<h2>What to expect</h2>We have a friendly and collaborative culture, balancing early responsibility with an open-door policy.&nbsp; Trainees are encouraged to have direct contact with clients from the outset.
