We are delighted to offer aspiring professionals an exclusive opportunity to explore various practice areas within our esteemed Law Firm. Whether you are an A Level student with a budding interest in law, or a degree-level candidate seeking valuable industry experience, our programme is designed to provide you with a rich and immersive learning experience by developing your skills and expanding your knowledge in a supportive and dynamic environment.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Our Work Experience programme is thoughtfully structured to offer participants a comprehensive understanding of the legal profession. We provide tailored placements for both A Level students and those at degree level, ensuring that you gain valuable insights and practice skills relevant to your stage of education and career aspirations.

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Department Rotations: Experience the different areas of law by rotating through various department within our Firm.
  • Shadowing Fee Earners: Participants will have the opportunity to shadow experienced lawyers in various practice areas, potentially observing real-life legal proceedings, client meetings, and case preparations.
  • Hands-on Assignments: Engage in meaningful tasks that reflect real-life legal matters, such as legal research and drafting documents. These tasks will be explained in depth with your assigned supervisor to create an insightful and meaningful learning experience.
  • Networking Opportunities: Interact with our team members across all departments whilst attending your placement with Sills, fostering connections that can be valuable for future career prospects.
  • Career Guidelines: Receive personalised guidance and advice from supervisors and various fee earners who will share their insights and help you navigate your career path in the legal field.

ELIGIBILITY FOR A WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENT

Our Work Experience programme is open to both undergraduates (A Level or equivalent) or students pursuing graduate degrees in law or related fields. We welcome applications from individuals with a genuine passion for law, strong academic records and excellent communication skills.

PLACEMENT OPTIONS AND APPLICATIONS WINDOWS

We are proud to offer placements in not only our Head Office in Lincoln but also at our branch offices (Boston, Sleaford, Gainsborough, Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Skegness, Spilsby, Doncaster, Sheffield, Thorne, Howden, Wath Upon Dearne, Bawtry, Nottingham, Derby, Northampton), providing a diverse and comprehensive exposure to our legal services. With a total of 25 placements available each year, we aim to accommodate a wide range of talented individuals who are passionate about pursuing a career in law.

To facilitate a seamless application process, we have two placement application windows each year:

  • 1st Application Window: 01 October – 30 November, allowing successful applicants to join us from January to June.
  • 2nd Application Window: 01 April – 31 May, enabling placements from July to December.

This structure ensures flexibility for prospective candidates to align their availability with our programme timelines.

Please note that we offer 3-day placements for each candidate. These days must be consecutive.
