Training at SJP Law

Think you have to head to London, Leeds or Manchester to get ahead in your legal career?

Think again.

We are a well-established legal practice with offices in Hull & York.  We are independent and progressive, with an enviable reputation for high quality legal work, specialising in commercial, employment, commercial property, wealth management, catastrophic clinical negligence and personal injury.

We place great emphasis on training and career development. There is no glass ceiling at SJP Law, there are opportunities for all our employees to build a successful career and rise to the very top of the profession.

Join our firm as a trainee, and you will not be making up the numbers – you will be making a real impact, taking on responsibility, and building the relationships needed to succeed and helping our clients achieve the right outcomes.

What you can expect:

Training at our firm is challenging and rewarding in equal measure.

We don’t expect you to know it all already, in fact, your development is a key priority for us. Over a two-year period, you will benefit from a thorough grounding in every aspect of our practice. Constantly learning, you will be shadowing experienced solicitors and working as an integral part of a close-knit team to develop essential skills and build relationships.

You will be dealing directly with clients, and playing a big part in our firm, taking on responsibilities that make a real difference. With a great variety of clients working across a huge range of industries, you will gain the strong foundation of knowledge needed to succeed in any department.

Your hard work, talent and dedication will be recognised and rewarded, and the best candidates will have real opportunities to progress in the firm. We enjoy excellent staff retention, and many of our directors started out as trainees.

To apply for our Training Contracts, you need to submit a handwritten letter and full CV before the closing date - 31 July each year for a start 2 years hence. Please state clearly if there are any restrictions on your availability for interview after the closing date.
