SQE route

The new route for becoming a solicitor involves sitting two sets of exams, SQE1 and SQE2 and undertaking a two year period of Qualifying Work Experience (QWE).

When joining us via this route, we would expect you to already have SQE1 by the time of your start date, and any previous QWE registered and approved.  We will fund the SQE2 exam as a part of your offer.

This programme is usually recruited for two years in advance of commencement and our next application window is for 2026.

LPC route

We provide the two year Solicitor Training Contract route for those graduates who have their Legal Practice Certificate (LPC).  This route is only available to candidates who have already completed or are in the process of completing their LPC.

You will usually have four six month seats and we always try to match these seats with your personal career interests, either commercial or private client, or both for those who’ve not yet decided.

During the two year period you will undertake the Professional Skills Course (PSC) at Northumbria University which will be funded as a part of your offer.

This programme is usually recruited for two years in advance of commencement and our next application window is for 2026.

How to apply

For more information on either route, please contact Kate Sowerby, or to apply, please send us your CV and covering letter to yourfuture@burnetts.co.uk.
