We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal / Associate to join our team in London on a full time, permanent basis. As a global organisation serving clients around the world, immigration and visa management is one of our core internal talent processes. 

We are seeking a motivated, independent and people-oriented professional with immigration experience to join our team and play a core role in the day to day running of our visa and immigration programme. 

This includes managing day to day visa and sponsorship applications/casework, liaising with internal and external stakeholders on visa related issues, understanding and tracking legislative changes and contributing to our business strategy and processes in this evolving and shifting landscape. 

The role will require organisation, attention to detail and a positive, proactive approach to manage various applications, whilst requiring interaction with candidates, employees and key stakeholders, to ensure a seamless experience for all candidates and employees.

What you’ll do

The Immigration Paralegal / Associate will assist in the day-to-day functions of the London-based HR [and Legal] team[s] including all aspects of internal immigration-related work and assisting in the end to end application process. They will benefit from direct supervision, but also be expected to work independently. There is opportunity to work on varied application types and contribute to the immigration strategy decisions in a fast-growing organisation.

Other key responsibilities will include and experience of these will be beneficial:

  • Assist with fulfilling AlphaSights’ obligations as a sponsor
  • Serve as an immigration resource to our Global Mobility efforts, foreign nationals, recruiters, and managers
  • Address immigration-related issues and questions to internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as point of contact for prospective and current employees (for extensions, relocations, changes in immigration category etc.)
  • Handle issue escalation and resolution
  • Collect and structure data to support, and own decisions that drive, project effectiveness, efficiency and innovation
  • Support with the day-to-day running of the UK Home Office SMS
  • Educate stakeholders on immigration requirements and updates to UK Home Office guidelines
  • Keep up to date with changes to the immigration process, and proactively flag any future issues

Requirements

At least 1.5 to 2 years previous immigration experience is required including ability to independently manage the end to end skilled worker visa application process, handling Certificate of Sponsorship allocations, managing visa renewals whilst ensuring continual compliance with the Home Office requirements as a sponsor. 

A law degree is not required but a desire to develop your career within a corporate environment is essential. Some additional skills will include: 

  • Very strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Time management and prioritisation skills; ability to multitask using analytical and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment with competing demands
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate effectively at all levels by videoconference, phone, and email
  • Demonstrate proactivity and initiative regarding application management
  • Ability to provide information and respond to requests for assistance with courtesy and tact
  • Must be a team player as well as self-motivated and committed to excellence in the workplace
  • Is able to keep on top of changes to procedural and processing requirements for various visa types
  • Learns from both positive and negative experiences and adapts accordingly

This role will be an integral part of the AlphaSights HR and Legal teams, while the core of the role is operational and tactical in nature, there is room for this candidate to grow into more strategic responsibilities. These would include, working closely to advise key internal stakeholders on immigration-related questions, developing internal policies and planning for the future based on immigration trends and the latest government guidance.
