Role Purpose

As a Paralegal you will be working in a demanding environment where your quick thinking, strong work ethic, attention to detail and accuracy are vital attributes. 

The Family department is a growing team and is looking for a Paralegal to provide direct support to both clients and other members of the team in delivering exceptional service.

You will have a broad understanding of family law, as well as experience of dealing with client requests and the demands of your team often connected to sensitive or complex issues.  

Key Responsibilities

  •  Conducting client interviews to gather information and documents and preparation of detailed notes from meetings
  • Contacting clients and third parties to provide updates/information and dealing with enquiries.
  •  Drafting of emails, letters, pleadings and other documents related directly to client matters and ensuring that electronic client files are managed properly and organised correctly
  • Collation and sorting documents for court and disclosure bundles and taking responsibility for the accurate preparation and delivery of these
  • Taking responsibility for timetabling, diarising and ensuring that court and other deadlines are managed and met and filing and exchanging documents with the court online and in person as well as with third parties
  • Researching case law and procedure to provide direct support to clients or other members of your team
  • Organising and attending conferences with Counsel
  • Provide administrative support to other members of your team, including scheduling client meetings, organising MIAM and mediation sessions, diarising and attending court hearings
  • Assisting with all finance processes, closure of files and gathering feedback from clients for Review Solicitors
  • Accurate time recording and ensuring that there is effective tracking of your chargeable hours targets and goals

Person Specification

  • An interest in the law and particularly issues concerning divorce, financial remedy, wealth protection, children law and domestic abuse
  • Personal effectiveness and self-management
  • Good communication skills with clients, colleagues and third parties
  • Excellent organisational and team skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Flexible and dependable, able to take the initiative
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines
  • Conscientious, approachable and enthusiastic
  • Able to quickly build confidence, respect and trust with others

Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe
  • Knowledge of HTS
